Both sides of my family came to find something better, and to flee unfriendly circumstances (outright persecution, on one side). "Regrouping" is very different than running, I think, but it can also be done without renouncing the right to vote, live, work, and make a difference in this country.
Honestly, you're welcome to say "I'm moving to Canada," or whatever else you want. I'll still like you, even if I disagree. (I got an email telling me that I'm a dirty hippie intellectual, and apparently we dirty hippie intellectuals can't hold grudges, or something...)
