Because actual updates are still beyond me

** **
Stop falling, you rain.
Stripey blue socks with no shoes
and you don't mix well.
**
Goat cheese for each meal,
with apples and stale baguette,
make a happy Meg.
**

This job is a game,
Pretend to be smarter, yes,
but be a monkey.
**
My trolley lurches,
small girl sings nonsense to me,
birthday balloon bobs.
**
He's a carpenter,
not a help desk guy, he says.
Don't tell his day job.
**
Grad school apps loom big
but there are movies to watch
and boyfriend to hug.
**
Not NaNoWriMo,
These words will decide my life.
No wonder they freeze.
**
Reading Naked Ape
Like watching football, I curse
the stupid ideas.
**
When brunch takes all day,
and migraine pills clench my teeth,
my Sunday is gone.
**
I can't remember
When last I called my parents.
No guilt, just a void.
**
Coworkers tease me:
Am I from New York because
I wear only black?
**
Left S.F. days back.
Didn't leave my heart, but I
left my best friend there.
**
Counting syllables
Makes me forget what I say,
I'm more free this way.
**
Form follows function?
Not in a haiku, my friend,
form counts out my words.
**
Doot doo doo de doo
Tra la la la tra la la
Yodelai-hee-hoo
**
I've no sense of time,
I may cave and buy a watch.
I am yuppie scum.
**
When was the last time
I read a damned newspaper?
I almost miss news.
**
I'm so sorry I
haven't been in touch with you.
Which you? All of you.
**

*trying to interpret*
sad that I'm not doing nanowrimo? I'm not being helpful?
I'm planning on trying to write more, but big book is beyond my brain. I will be as helpful as possible with grad school stuffs. :o)

Your haiku turn the
mundane into the sublime.
Don't LJ-cut them.

[identity profile] prosicated.livejournal.com 2003-11-11 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I would not want them cluttering up people's pages, nor would I want to stare at them all. In case you can't tell, I am all about avoidance.

The best thing about
posting haiku is replies
can be haiku too.

The best friend gets all
sniffly, whines and paws at the
blank computer screen.

:) Your haikus are lovely. I'm especially fond of "These words will decide my life. No wonder they freeze."
As well as the yodeling, of course. :)

I don't know that they're capable of being called lovely, just a convenient way to suppress and distill all the one-third-of-an-entry things in my head. We should phoninate sometime soon. Tell Becca to update too, damnit.

[identity profile] oceanic.livejournal.com 2003-11-11 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Phoninator! Indeed. Sometime this weekend?
I don't think Becca has updated her LJ in a bajillion year. I keep telling her to read things on my LJ and she's like "aah! too much work! No time for LJ!"
I'll tell her. :)

I think they're lovely. :)

[identity profile] prosicated.livejournal.com 2003-11-12 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, this weekend sounds lovely for phonination.

Maybe I'll email her and tell her too. Got to re-meet her and remember how cool she is and then she disappeared off of LJ. Damnation!

I think you're lovely. *gigggleblushshufflerun*

i think the cliche of all new yorkers wearing only black is a little silly, but you know, nobody will ever tease you or even comment if that is all you wear here.

[identity profile] prosicated.livejournal.com 2003-11-12 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
I sadly live up to the cliche for the most part. I don't when I'm not at work but all my shirts have always been black and I used to wear red, grey, green and blue pants (or striped) but all my work pants are black or black with pinstripes. Everyone comments on it here.
Somehow, though, I can't imagine you in all lback. patterned skirts and pale tops.

[identity profile] nevers.livejournal.com 2003-11-12 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
hehe! last time you were imagining me in paint-covered cords :)

today in fact i'm wearing black dressy boots, black dress pants, and a black pinstripe button-down (with fun drawstrings along the sleeves that tie in bows at the end). my work wardrobe contains a fair amount of black because it's just so easy! i also have pale tops, but no patterned skirts (that i wear to work, anyway).

i really want a good pair of red pants.

[identity profile] prosicated.livejournal.com 2003-11-12 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think you'd wear paint-covered cords to work. I always assumed you'd be a skirts-to-work person. Then again I also wish I'd be a skirt person so it may just be habit.
Hearing what you're wearing is creepily like those Internet type-by flirtations. Only nicer. I always admire those shirts with the pulls, but I know I would tear my shirt to pieces fidgeting. I'm wearing all black again today. I went on a three day kick a few weeks ago of no black (except for shoes because all my shoes are black) - it was fun but much harder to conceptualize, I had to keep in mind that I had to wear the red shirt with the grey pants because tomorrow I'd have to wear green trousers and the red shirt wouldn't go, I had to iron a button down or two, and I caved and wore ties too. Far far too complicated for early morning dressing.

I have 3 pairs of red pants - fleece, velvet and corduroy. =)

hope you feel better.

You're making Brandeis

Please bolster my dreams.

Take better care of

[identity profile] bluewillowtree.livejournal.com 2003-11-12 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, goat cheese with apple and baguette would make a happy Erin too.

[identity profile] prosicated.livejournal.com 2003-11-12 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
I highly recommend eating such things for lunch - goat cheese and apples from farmer's market, yesterday's bread on sale from local bakery. Cheap and tasty and fresh. You have got farmer's markets in Jersey, right?? =)

[identity profile] bluewillowtree.livejournal.com 2003-11-12 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course we do :P Not particularly close to me, many more down by [livejournal.com profile] squidia's, but we do. And i'm still working on the apples we picked, so there's no shortage in that department. Perhaps i will have to eat that for lunch tomorrow. I'm generally lazy and just bring dinner leftovers or peanut butter & jelly sandwiches with one of the many apples, but i do yearn for a change sometimes.
