A poem in honor of the first day without rain

V
-e.e. cummings

a wind has blown the rain away and blown
the sky away and all the leaves away,
and the trees stand. I think i too have known
autumn too long

(and what have you to say,
wind wind wind—did you love somebody
and have you the petal of somewhere in your heart
pinched from dumb summer?

                                              O crazy daddy
of death dance cruelly for us and start

the last leaf whirling in the final brain
of air!) Let us as we have seen see
doom's integration . . . . . . . . . a wind has blown the rain

away and the leaves and the sky and the
trees stand:
                   the trees stand. The trees,
suddenly wait against the moon's face.

Not actively and obsessively, but I own some of her stuff and like it. =)

Use the <pre> tag!

I completely forgot about the preformatted text option. I was going to go through and space out the characters for the indents. Ha!
Danke. =)

How ironic. Today is our first day *with* rain. =P

I'd offer you my apologies, but given the weather we've been having the last few weeks, I'm perfectly happy to let S.F. have its rain back, though I'd be happier if it'd take the 40 degree weather, too.

Thanks, but no thanks. You can keep the 40s. : ) We have our own!

My mom said it snowed in the hills around Charlottesville last night. There is something terribly wrong with the weather this year.

That's pretty amazing! [livejournal.com profile] tatterh00d said it was raining near her in VA, but she's at least up in the mtns...
Yeah, I figured you had your own crummy weather, but I tried to make mine better anyway, you're moving anyway, which didn't seem too mean, seeing as you're moving soon.

Oh dear ohdear ohdear. I'm sure you remember that on the wall of my room sophomore year. I need to stop attaching bad temporal meanings to poems. It makes them really hard to read five years later.
:)

[identity profile] prosicated.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I had completely forgotten that it was on your wall, as it was also on mine, and without the bad associations. *hugs*
Sorry, love.

[identity profile] oceanic.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
*grin* no worries. If anything it illustrates our mutual fabulous taste in poetry. Though I'm not sure how you could see anything in your room through all the christmas lights. ;)

[identity profile] prosicated.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Hey now, there were never so many xmas lights that you couldn't see anything... that was Ry's room. What with the orange and black lights along with the standard xmas-y ones.

In Sydney we're praying for rain...

[identity profile] prosicated.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'll hope you get some, then; we got enough to keep us well saturated for a while, anyway.

We are several years into a drought and it's not looking good for our water supply. :(
